Billie Holiday was known for her distinct and melancholic voice that moved many peopled in the jazz community. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 7, 1915 as Eleanora Fagan, Holiday had spent most of her childhood growing up in Baltimore, Maryland. Holiday experienced hard times growing up, with it being only her and her mother, Sadie, Billie struggled for most of her childhood.

Our first Open Mic Night, a success.

YES IT IS! Our first Open Mic Night was successful! We've had a week or so to come down off of our excitement high to reflect on the event we put together. Being a part of the ALGP program is about learning to work as a team, budgeting for travel and events, and time management. All of this was necessary to pull off one of the funnest group projects we've had so far.
